Ideas for DIY lovers (Easy ideas)

How cute are these Tootsie Roll Pop centerpieces? For easy to follow instructions to make this adorable centerpiece, check out Gluestick.com’s blog, Patriotic Lollipop Topiary. Not only is this a great decoration for your table, it’s a sweet treat…when the party is over send the Tootsie Roll Pops home with your guests.

I love Mason Jar DIY projects, they are affordable and can be purchased at your local Walmart. Even better, they add a little vintage flare to your party. There are so many creative uses for them. Here are just a few.

This is one of my favorite ideas that I keep running across when exploring Pinterest or scrolling through Facebook. Who doesn’t love a Mod Podge project? This one is quick and easy, all you need are some American flags, Mason jars, and a layer of Mod Podge. Great for table decorations that makes a statement day or night. Use real candles or no worry flameless candles. When I am going to be in-and-out at a party, I like to use flameless candles just to be on the safe side. If your party is not at your home, some venues require the use of flameless candles.

Want a cute easy way to organize your utensils and napkins for your cookout? Try these simple, yet charming ideas – sure to be hit with your guests.

Sort all your silverware in separate Mason Jars for an easy grab. Or put everything your guests need in one jar. They can easily grab the jar and take it to their seat. Put pitchers of water and lemonade on the table and the jar can also serve as a glass for drinks. All in one decor.

Ideas for shoppers

DIY projects not your thing? No problem, from dishes to decorative pillows Pier 1 has something to reflect everyone’s personal style. Me? I love to mix DIY decorations and purchased accessories.

Want a simple way to add some patriotic style to your living room? Toss some Americana throw pillows on your couch for some patriotic pizzazz. In just a couple minutes you can transform the entire room.

Instead of paper plates, how about some melamine plates and serving dishes? They can be used year after year and easily paired with patriotic place mats and runners. I may be dating myself, but I am particularly fond of the banana-bike inspired plates and napkins. I owned a very similar red Schwinn bike with a white basket adorned with beautiful plastic flowers, might I add. In my day, going to the bike store to get a Schwinn bike was a right of passage.

Fun and games for all ages

Of course, I would always recommend the normal 4th of July games we play in Indiana – cornhole and hill-billy golf.

These two games are a staple for family fun at my house. From my nine-year-old to my 75-year-old mother-in-law, fun is had by all. At least one person gets mad at some point because they have lost, that’s a successful day. My advice…make sure your rules have been firmly decided before you play. I have discovered families have very different rules for hill-billy golf.

Want to create your own game? Then look no further.

This game will add some pop to your party. Adults and kids alike will have a blast. Take a large piece of peg board and attach red, white, and blue balloons in a flag pattern similar to this. Then depending on how many guests you have, let your party attendees throw a predetermined number of darts in attempt to pop balloons. Fill each balloon with a prize before blowing it up. This can be anything from money to candy. Or you can put a piece of paper in each balloon. The color of the paper or a number on the paper can be associated with a prize or prize table. This game will be remembered for years to come.

Ok, you know we can’t resist sharing some adorable outfits for your special girl.

If you have a sassy little or not-so-little firecracker she will love this peace-out dress by Ooh La La Couture. A blend of high fashion and layers of tulle is sure to give your special girl’s 4th of July a spark of fun. Ooh La La Couture is a brand that continues to bring us back for more.

Flowers by Zoe’s Americana style and comfy cottons make it a great choice for pool parties, backyard barbecues, and bonfires. Your stylish tween can stay cool poolside and then throw a coordinating sweatshirt on when she heads out to watch fireworks that night. Patriotic wear is not just for the Fourth. It is a look she can enjoy all summer long and as she heads back to school this fall.

If you are looking for for a cute summer dress in reds, whites, and blues, then Five Loaves Two Fish has charming options. On sale…a perfect fit for her suitcase as you head to your favorite vacation spot over the holiday.
