Today is National Picnic Day. As a kid, one of my favorite things do to was to go on a picnic. It didn’t matter if it was taking a picnic basket to our picnic table in the backyard or loading everyone in the car and heading to the closest state park, I was in.
My favorite childhood picnics included fried chicken, corn, and some kind of yummy dessert. If we were really lucky we had homemade ice cream, which my children have never had. I just added make homemade ice cream to my to-do-list. Another necessity, a red and white checkered tablecloth.
